If you’re a State or County Fair

Our Rigid Wipeable murals are a perfect fit for Fairs. You can wipe the mural down at the end of each day—or several times a day—and then use the mural several more years!

Product Recommendations

Rigid Wipeable Plastic
This is by far our most common product for fairs. To mount it, you'll need a wall, tight fence (no wind blowing through), or side of a building.  It works with Crayola Brand Washable Markers, or Crayola Brand Washable Paint, and wipes with water and sponge or a hose, or if you're using markers, just a water spray bottle and paper towels.

Table Size Coloring Sheets
We have many fairs that love the Table Size Sheets instead of the bigger Wall-Size murals.  Just put the Table Sheets down on 8' tables and put some crayons out, and you have an activity area.  Lots of people can color at a time, and they take a long time to finish.  We have some fairs that buy as few as four sheets, and some that buy as many as 30.

Rollable Wipeable Plastic
We usually don't suggest this for fairs.  But if you have several events that you need to move it between, it might make sense for you.  But note that it has adhesive joints that hold the mural in one piece that won't last forever, so you're trading longevity for more movability. (The recommended Rigid has no adhesive joints and should last much longer).  Also, note the Rigid actually takes up less storage space that the Rollable, as the Rollable shouldn't roll up tight when in storage. The Rigid is in 4' wide sections, but stacked together are less than 1" thick.

Thoughts on How to Use Them

Mural as a Fair Activity

As an activity, these murals are a fun, warm-and-fuzzy addition to your event. Make it it's own activity area, or use it to augment your livestock area, your sheep barn, or wherever you have wall space for an a visual activity.  Remember, you'll get participants of all ages---kids, parents, teens and seniors.

Design & Customization

We have hundreds of designs ready to go---and nearly 50 variations of farm and fair elements. We can swap characters, animals or buildings between designs—this is included in the Wipeable prices. We can add your full-color sponsor or event logos as well.

Get Your Mural Sponsored!

A mural is a fantastic activity for a local business to sponsor. It's a great visual—that could include their full-color logo. It's a wholesome, warm-and-fuzzy association with their brand. Remember this could be a multi-year revenue generator. A mural should last several years, so you can charge them for each year of the activation.

Mounting Considerations

Our recommendation for Fairs is to mount our Rigid Wipeable Plastic directly onto a wall, tight fence (no wind coming through), or side of a building. You could also build a simple wooden wall structure.

The Rigid Wipeable Mural is delivered in 4 ft wide sections. You can easily drill small holes in the Rigid material where you need them. Use small screws to mount to the wall behind it. We don't recommend adhesives, since they make the mural difficult to remove without damage.

Note: some photos on our site show a mural stand. These work with our Single Use Tarps and Rollable Plastic Murals, but note that we don't recommend having the mural out overnight on a stand in the wind.

Indoor vs. Outdoor — Paint vs. Markers

Our Wipeable murals work with Crayola Brand Washable Markers, or Crayola Brand Washable Paint. Most fairs we work with use the Markers, as they're cleaner, easier to manage, cheaper than paint, and easier to wipe off.  If you're indoors over a floor you need to keep clean, markers are your best option. They wipe off with water and sponge or even a water spray bottle and paper towers.

If you're outdoors, or in a place where the floor isn't a concern, you could use paint or markets, and wipe it off with a bucket and sponge, or even a hose.

We highly recommend cleaning it off every day to avoid staining. We've had some Family Entertainment Centers and small Theme Parks who used it and wiped it every day for more than 700 days. DON'T use any soaps or cleaning products. You can use a regular hose with a trigger sprayer, but DON'T use a pressure washer.

Staffing Considerations

Most fairs we hear from use very minimal staffing to oversee the mural activity. A few will have one person at all times, but many fairs just have people working nearby who check on it periodically. Your biggest concern is people using Sharpie-type markers. Many fairs have told us that they close the mural in the evenings, when the crowd is more rowdy than during the day.

How Long Will It Last?

This varies, depending on how you use it, how you clean it, how you store it, and how much sun it gets.

For the Rigid Plastic, we recommend cleaning it off at the end of every day—or at least every other day—to avoid residue buildup. We don't recommend leaving it out in the sun for extended periods. Most fairs are only 5 to 21 or so days. so we recommend storing it indoors—and cleaned off—between fairs. We've had Family Entertainment Centers and small Theme Parks who used it every day of the year, and get to 700 or so days of use.

The Rollable Wipeable Plastic, however, may not have that longevity. The Rollable Plastic is also printed in 4 ft sections, but the sections are put together with a glue/adhesive. Those adhesive joints aren't going to last forever---we're seeing life in the range of two to three years before seeing separation. Some clients have seen longer. Please note that the Rollables really aren't repairable.
